Regardless of yours or my faith, for as long as I can remember, people have been on the hunt for the lost Ark, with the main focus on it's biblical resting place - Mount Ararat in Turkey.
According to a group of fundamentalist Christians, there is a "99.9 percent" chance that the discovery of seven large wooden compartments beneath snow and volcanic debris, 4000 metres above sea level, is in fact the remains of Noah's Ark.
Some wood taken from the site has allegedly been tested and has been dated by experts to 2800BC. If this really is the Ark, this discovery would be the greatest in the history of archaeology!!
The research team belongs to "Noah's Ark Ministries International" and consists of Turkish and Chinese archaeological experts.
One team member, Panda Lee said: "I saw a structure built with plank-like timber... Each plank was about eight inches wide. I could see tenons, proof of ancient construction predating the use of metal nails... We walked about 100m to another site. I could see broken wood fragments in a glacier, some 20m long."
In this video, there can be seen several compartments, doors and staircases. The wooden walls of the compartments appear smooth and curved, and appear to be cypress (according to the 'literal' Bible, the Ark was built from gopher wood).
The book of Genesis states that the Ark is the equivalent of 137 metres long by 23 metres wide and around 14 meters high (taller than a three-storey building, with a deck the size of 36 tennis courts).
So is it really Noah's Ark? Only time will tell - some scientific experts are already offering up their skepticism on the alleged discovery. We'll all be watching this one very closely indeed!!
