I’d like to take the opportunity to thank all of my readers and friends for the (literally) hundreds of emails I received showing support and well wishes in the competition.
Guest of Honour, Mr George Yeo, Minister for Foreign Affairs will be sharing his experience on using the new media as well as presenting winners with their trophies.
From the official press release: “The organiser received over 1500 blog registrations this year, a 50 per cent increase in registration numbers compared to last year. Online voting to select the best blogs, which closed on 31 July, attracted over 160,000 votes. This is a 100 per cent increase in votes cast compared to the inaugural event last year.”
The winner of each category will walk away with a custom-designed trophy created by Singapore Cultural Medallion winner Mr Tan Swie Hian and a variety of sponsored prizes. All bloggers and voters stand to win a total of over $20,000 worth of prizes by participating in the Awards. Prizes include mobile phones, shopping vouchers, overseas hotel accommodation packages, food products and more.
Even if I don’t win in my category (Best ‘What The Hell’ Blog), the journey has been memorable… from all the media events I’ve had the opportunity to attend, to the many new friends I’ve made along the way – both within OMY and within the blogging community… and who can forget when I was ‘owned’ by J C Sum and Magic Babe Ning??!!
The awards ceremony itself is a ‘closed door’ event – by invitation only… but I’m here to tell you that anyone can get involved in the celebrations, by attending the exclusive ‘after party’ at the Supperclub. Be cool, be seen, mix with the Singapore “in crowd” and party hard!! The party starts straight after the awards event at 10pm.
As a reader of Aussie Pete blog, I can tell you that you can gain access to this must-attend event for FREE!! Simply present the secret password at the door, and you will have the entry fee WAIVED!! Be sure to tell the door people that you are a friend of ‘Aussie Pete’!! (they’ll probably say “Aussie Who?” – but you’ll get in for free regardless)… :D
But wait!! There’s more!! 1-for-1 house-pour drinks all night long, as well as bottles of Moet at just S$100 nett!!
The password is (*drum roll*).... "NEXT GENERATION" !!
Finally, a huge thank you to OMY and all the sponsors for giving me the chance to take part in this journey!! And thanks to all those people who voted or rallied for me, or just plainly offered emails or calls of support and well wishes!!
